Jaxon Smith-Njigba opened the 2026 BakaBois season with a 26.20-point punch, then landed the exact same shot in the other league. Ben and Dannie own matching early leads because of him. Everyone else is already chasing.

The first game also delivered two injury problems that matter inside BakaBois. A.J. Brown scored 5.60 for Mitchell and Kenneth before an ankle injury ended his night. Brock Bowers underwent a knee procedure before Week 1 and is expected to miss at least the opener. Mitchell rosters both of them. He spent all offseason building a contender and made it one game before the roster turned into an orthopedic waiting room.

These scores are still early and every Rivalry Week matchup remains in progress, but the first pressure points are already clear.

JSN SETS THE PACE

Ben’s Bijan Mustard on Johnson leads Ryan’s JarvisHater69 26.20–18.42, with Smith-Njigba supplying every point for Ben. Ryan answered with 11.82 from Drake Maye and 6.60 from Jason Myers, enough to stay within range before Ben adds Matthew Stafford and Kyren Williams on Thursday.

Dannie got the same 26.20 from Smith-Njigba and leads Miguel 26.20–0.00. Davante Adams still goes Thursday for Dannie, so Miguel could watch that hole deepen before most of his lineup reaches Sunday. The current ESPN projections still have it almost even, which says plenty about how much firepower Miguel has left.

Seattle’s defense created the next wave. Will leads Josh 14.00–0.00 with the Seahawks as his only scorer. Kenneth paired that same 14.00 with Brown’s 5.60 to take a 19.60–14.50 lead over Jim. Kenneth also has Christian McCaffrey on Thursday, giving him a chance to extend his lead over Jim.

Rhamondre Stevenson’s 14.50 put Alex ahead of Lil C by the same score and supplied all of Jim’s points against Kenneth. The New England defense gave Cesar and Kyle 7.00 apiece. Jason Myers put Justin ahead of Wes 6.60–0.00, while Jadarian Price gave Austin and Jason matching 7.80-point starts. Banz and Savage are the only matchup still sitting at 0.00–0.00.

That leaves the full opening board like this: Ben over Ryan, Will over Josh, Alex over Lil C, Mitchell over Payden, Cesar over Darnell and Austin over Kent in League 1. League 2 has Kenneth over Jim, Justin over Wes, Jason over Brett, Dannie over Miguel and Kyle over Ian, with Banz and Savage tied. Nobody has won anything, but nobody can pretend Week 1 has not started either.

THE INJURY BILL

Brown caught three passes for 26 yards before hurting his right ankle early in the third quarter. He was ruled out, X-rays showed no fracture and an MRI will determine the damage. The early belief is a high ankle sprain.

The fantasy hit lands on Mitchell and Kenneth. Both started Brown and received 5.60 points. Kenneth at least has a lead. Mitchell is ahead of Payden 5.60–0.00, but Brown was supposed to be a weekly anchor rather than a one-quarter warning sign. His status now matters far beyond this opener.

Mitchell also has Bowers on his bench, making his roster the clear loser of Wednesday’s injury news. Bowers underwent a meniscus trim after getting hurt in camp and is expected to miss a game or two. Jason has Bowers in League 2. For Week 1, Mitchell is starting Michael Mayer and Jason is starting T.J. Hockenson, so both avoided an empty tight-end slot. The bigger question is whether those replacements become a short bridge or the beginning of a longer headache.

Sam Darnold added another scare when he left Seattle’s opening possession with a hip injury. A fracture was ruled out and the injury is not considered major, but he is expected to miss Week 2 against Arizona. Lil C had Darnold’s 0.52 on the bench, so the injury did not wreck his Week 1 lineup. It does thin his quarterback insurance immediately.

MELBOURNE MOVES THE BOARD

San Francisco and Los Angeles meet Thursday at Melbourne Cricket Ground, and the fantasy traffic runs through several BakaBois matchups.

Ben brings both sides of the Rams offense into Thursday: Stafford at quarterback and Williams at running back, with a 26.20–18.42 lead over Ryan. A productive Rams night could stretch that advantage before Ryan gets back on the board.

Cesar starts Brock Purdy and McCaffrey against Darnell’s Adams after taking a 7.00–0.00 lead. Austin can build on his 7.80-point edge over Kent with Puka Nacua, but Kent has George Kittle ready to answer. That matchup has a starter on each side of Thursday’s game.

League 2 brings four more swings. Kenneth sends McCaffrey against Jim while leading 19.60–14.50. Wes has the Stafford–Nacua stack ready to erase Justin’s 6.60-point lead. Brett starts Williams and the Rams defense while chasing Jason’s 7.80. Dannie adds Adams to the 26.20 already sitting on Miguel.

Then there is Ian, who has Kittle on his bench against Kyle. Kyle already banked 7.00 from the Patriots defense, so one big Kittle night would make Ian’s bench decision sting while he is still chasing.

Los Angeles won the last meeting 42–26 behind four Stafford touchdown passes and two Williams rushing scores. If Thursday produces anything close to that again, the BakaBois board will look completely different before Sunday arrives.

Wednesday gave Ben and Dannie the first haymaker. It gave Mitchell the first injury double-hit. Thursday now belongs to the Stafford–Nacua stacks, the McCaffrey managers and one very visible George Kittle decision.
