League 1 killed the Josh Allen trade. Eight owners voted it down — exactly the eight vetoes the league requires — and nothing moved.

Darnell accepted the deal Tuesday night: Allen to Mitchell for Courtland Sutton, Kyle Monangai and $25 in FAAB. The vetoes started landing within fifteen minutes, and by Wednesday morning the league had eight. Allen is still on Darnell’s roster, and Sutton and Monangai are still on Mitchell’s.

League 1 needs eight of twelve owners to overturn a trade. It got eight, with nothing to spare — the fantasy equivalent of a unanimous ruling that everyone grumbled about on the way.

The logic from both sides held up. Mitchell already had Justin Herbert, but Allen is a weekly ceiling, and two starters plus waiver money was the asking price for a top-tier quarterback. Darnell had Allen, Lamar Jackson, Jaxson Dart and Kyler Murray, so flipping one luxury quarterback for two starters and $25 of FAAB looked like free value.

The league didn’t buy it, and Week 2 made the veto look prescient. Allen put up 46.82 points — for Darnell, because the trade never processed. Mitchell started Sutton and Monangai and finished Sunday at 57.98, trailing Ben.
